RE: (erielack) EXTENDED COMMUTER SERVICE

OK, try this..........
Even in the final days when there were only 2 trains - 5 &6 , 10 & 15, it still was possible to go to the city for a day at the theatre or sightseeing & a good meal. THIS, by the way is from Binghamton - leaving at 6AM & returning at 7:30 PM or so with a 1155 arrival in Bingo. Bus commuting is all well & good until there's a car wreck. At that point I hope you have a good book to read. It used to be great leaving Hoboken as it was just dark & beginning to snow and getting to the diner for a leasurely meal. As we pulled from Newark, we'd watch the cars skidding all over on parallel hiways........knowing that we'd be in Scranton or Bingo ON TIME - rested and fed. Can't do that on Frank Martz busses but what the hey........it's all u have left.
Even better was leaving Bingo for a weekend with my fiancee. Instead of going into the city, there was a Holiday Inn near the Holland Tunnel exit (much cheaper than anything in NYC).. If we drove, it provided free parking while we rode the Hudson Tubes into the city. I'll bet there's still some SAFE motels near the Hudson Tubes & best of all, the parkiing is free. How long this happy state of affairs will last is unknown.

Regards,
