Randy, you have to understand Ted Culotta's market, much of which is Steam Freight Car fanatics. They KNOW that the cars in question, and some other ERIE cars in that short time period, were delivered with the yellow diamond, and they (oh, hell, >I<) would know that the decal sheet was "incomplete" if it didn't include that alternative. They also appreciate the fact that the ends Ted's providing are correct for that series of cars, that the brake wheels are different on different parts of the number series, and that his instructions tell you which wheel goes with which numbers, so on and so forth. And yes, the etched number board is worth it to those of us who look at freight cars very very carefully, and can tell you the difference between a 7/8 IDE, or a square corner vs a W-section corner, and so on and so forth. Actually, though, I prefer the Kadee roofwalk to the etched variety; the etched are too thin, and the Kadee is slightly heavier. Still see-through, but somewhat heavier. You also have to acknowledge that the current state of the art for HO scale (and O scale, now that I remember Chooch) freight cars is due in no small part to people who want these kits urging the manufacturers onward. Cars from Kadee, and the latest offerings from Intermountain, and pretty amazing productions right out of the box. BTW, the original post did not mention "yellow lettering."
