Fred, Lackawaxen was covered a month or two ago on this List, check the archives. By EL days IIRC, there were a couple of yard tracks and that's about it. There was no interchange as the branch was still EL, although early into Conrail it was acquired by the c'wealth of PA and operated by Delaware Otsego subsidiary Lackawaxen & Stourbridge. The eastbound train that carried Delaware Division cars was PO-98, but the Honesdale cars were in the DD group and dropped elsewhere and then handled by the DD local. PO-98 generally departed Binghamton with 3 blocks: Jeff Jct, Del Div'n and Port Jervis. By late 1975, the DD setoff location varied depending on the traffic mix. I see station 1780 which I assume is Deposit (western turnaround point for the DD local), 1715 (Hancock?) and 1195-Port Jervis on a day when the DD group was comprised of 4 cars for Honesdale. Despite the designation, the cars may in fact have actually been dropped at Honesdale. BTW, all the traffic I see for the branch were Maine Central boxcars of pulp and paper products (presumably rec'd in interchange at Binghamton) consigned to MOOBUSFOR. Does anyone know that one? Westbound cars were handled by PO-87 but I don't know if they were picked up at Lackawaxen or elsewhere; it probably varied as with PO-98. Paul B From: Fred Stratton <erief7_@_msn.com> Subject: (erielack) Lackawaxen, PA What kind of interchange or track arrangement did the EL have at Lackawaxen? This was where the Honesdale Branch left off to the south if I'm not mistaken. Does anyone know if a thru freight made a drop there?
