Yeah, well, whatever.  There are drawings of this car in one of the magazines, right now I don't
have the information which one it was (I lost a lot of that sort of records when my un-backed up
computer crashed in late '07).  The center truck has a sliding kingpin to allow for curves.  I don't
know the entire series, but there were quite a large number of them.  I seem to recall that they
were all gone by the mid-20s.

And I'll stick my neck out on the hopper too.  The DL&W added slope sheets to conventional hoppers
when the concept of covered hoppers came to pass, with the steeper slope sheet so cement would slide
out.  I once had a photo showing the side of a car which had had those additional slope sheets, but
then they'd been removed; you could see the holes in the side sheets where the rivets had been.  My
guess is that this car had been snagged for company service, for ballast as you suggest, with the
side outlets added to the hopper bottoms.

The weathering on the hopper shot is wonderful!
