From: Fred Stratton <erief7_@_msn.com> Subject: (erielack) Lackawaxen, PA What kind of interchange or track arrangement did the EL have at Lackawaxen? This was where the Honesdale Branch left off to the south if I'm not mistaken. - ----------------------------------------------------------------- Does anyone know if a thru freight made a drop there? - ----------------------------------------------------------------- Fred Stratton Boonton & Greenwood Lake RR in HO Scale Salisbury, NC 28147 - ------------------------------------------------------ Dear Fred; Don't know if the E-L or ERIE did, but in 1985 or so, Ray Staples and I took my motor-home up to Lackawaxen and Pt Jervis after spending the night at Campbell Hall; we chased a CR westb'd freight, which stopped at Lackawaxen, near where the tower was, or used to be. ANYWAY, the DS got on the radio, asking the crew WHERE they were, and the answer was, on this 90-100-degree July afternoon, it takes awhile to pump up the air, in this weather (after re-coupling)..... It was taking them over 45 minutes, with +- 100 cars! I do't know whether they dropped, or pickup, since they beat us there from Hawk's Nest, but they did SOMETHING! I don't recall the train's SYMBOL, but this train regularly stopped at SUFFERN, too; I saw it at least every week, on trips from NJ up to my house in Hunter, NY. 73's, Charlie Gerow The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
