Bob, Of course the answer to teh question as to what sizes would have been produced the most varies with time. Early on, theaimwas lump and the larger sizes.Later in the idustry' history, the smaller sizes became more popular. The early culm piles **were** in fact mostly small sizes that were deemed unsaleable. Starting in the 1890s, washeries were built to reclaim this anthracite,and ship it after all. But it's grteat to her from people who used it or had families that used it -- becasue the first person accounts tell more than the statistics.
