Stephen M. Timko has just authored two new Nickel Plate color volumes to be sold by Morning Sun Books. They are titled "Nickel Plate Road In Color Volume 1: 1946 - - 1959" and "Nickel Plate Road In Color Volume 2: 1960-1985". Mr Timko remarked about the books: "Vol. 1 contains 245 photos of steam and early diesel from 1946 through 1959. Lots of steam at Bellevue, Ft. Wayne and west of Ft. Wayne. Some other great photos on the Clover Leaf and W&LE districts also as well as the I-MC Branch. Photos by Bob Collins, Casey Cavanaugh, Soph Marty, Emery Gulash, Dave McKay and many others. Lots of shots of PAs, passenger trains, and train shots with facilities such as towers, stations, etc. When authoring the book, I was shocked at the quality and variety of the photos. I have never seen any of them published previously. Vol. 2 will follow, covering the NKP from 1960 into the 80's showing NKP power on N&W and NS lines after the merger and N&W and NS trains (to some extent) on former NKP lines." Volume 1 has a May 1 release date and Volume 2, August 1. The Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society is pleased to offer these books at special pre-production pricing.
