WOW! a lot of good information, and not just on the DL&W; answers a LOT of my questions. THANKS,? guys, for this. three? small additions, ?? when i? first?moved to florida, in 1991, i met a young fellow in the Fort Pierce model club, who came from Summit, NJ area. He remembered helping his Uncle load Roses (flowers) into empty meat reefers at the Summit team tracks, sent to NY City hotels. Sadly, he died a few years back. ?? After that, I visited the historical societies in New Providence and Gladstone. I learned that Mr. Hill in Gladstone, owned the lumber yard near the MU Yard, and the Packard auto dealership, a block north of that, and the Building Supply with 2 sidings, and the Coal Yard; both of the latter 2 were east and south of the MU yard. all but the coal yard still were standing, and they have photos. ?? The coal trestle in Murray Hill east? of the xing, was owned by a greenhouse, and the coal was used for heating it. (some MAY have been also sold for home use). at least that was what the librarians told me that they remembered. 73's, charlie gerow The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
