The trailing email was forwarded from a modeler friend of mine, who
questioned whether EL gondolas were riveted or welded construction...

I'm aware of seperate deliveries of gons from either Greenville or
Pullman-Standard, but can't answer the question of whether one or both
deliveries were welded or riveted...

Any assistance would be appreciated...

Subject: QUESTION FOR THE EXPERTS - EL GON

I've been thinking of making one of these EL Gons in HO, using and old MDC
gon which matches based on ribs/panels.

The question is, is this a WELDED gondola, which would match the model? Or
do you think it's riveted?

My opinion is that it's welded but whats goofy is I've found a whole bunch
of shots of gons in this series that the EL amazingly had built with rivets
(late in the game for that), and only one other shot where it look's like
the gon is welded (but that shot is worse than this one).
