This speaks to your model railroad's philosophy. Do you regard it as having an ongoing life of its own, or is each day that you see it the same day, as in "Groundhog Day?" Ongoing means that you remember what happened yesterday and today MUST be a progression from then. Eventually, you will replace "older" equipment with "newer" types -- motive power and rolling stock. Lackawanna becomes Erie Lackawanna then ConRail. Same day means that you start new each day at a specific point in time. You run the day's trains, and you switch the scrap yard with the same type of car in and out. It may take a little prestaging -- gondolas with removeable loads, for instance -- and a little selective amnesia would help the illusion. For, after all, it is all about the illusion, right? Randy Brown - -------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like I'm going to have the space in a corner of the yard to do a small representation of the Meadville car shops, which I think could be a cool addition. But the question is on the opposite ed of the westbound yard I also have some room and could possible do something with the Scrap plant (yard). The question is would it be worth doing? With the car shops I can see moving a fair amount of cars in and out, but with the scrap plant I'm not so sure. It doesn't operate exactly like a normal online scrap dealer. If I had static cars in there allegedly being scrapped and not disappearing it would look odd. And switching them back out not in pieces in a gondola would be weird to. Maybe I'm just not sure how I would deal with this. Thoughts?
