From oldnewark.com: The Hoffman Beverage plant stands on the corner of South Orange Ave. and Grove Street in Irvington. The plant produced soda until 1953 when it was sold to the Pabst Brewing Co. The unique part of the plant is the large soda bottle on the roof of the building which can be seen from motorists on the Garden State Parkway. The bottle was originally used as a water tank. While the plant perhaps had an Irvington mail address it was located in Newark per my Hagstrom map and did not have any rail service. bob gillis The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
