By the mid-1960s, the PRR started to build larger-capacity open hoppers that could haul 100 tons of coal. The PRR H43 class of open hoppers, built starting in 1964, was basically a larger 100 ton version of their H39 class. The PRR cars fell into the number series 180000 - 181999, followed by nearly identical sub-classes H43a 225000 - 226499, H43b 226500 - 229499, and H43c 229500 - 230499. Altogether, the EL consist sheets have 41 examples of PRR H43-style open hoppers, which would be good enough for #68 on the EL Hot 100.

Locations...
Like the other PRR/NYC/PC open hoppers seen in the consists, most were mixed in coal trains going loaded to either American Cement Co. in Hercules, PA, or to the Met Ed power plant at Portland, PA. A few were noted going to Rochester-Pittsburgh Coal in Buffalo. A single was consigned to Thatcher Glass in Wharton NJ, supposedly hauling "Stone/Glass" which I take to mean cullet.
Model...
The PRR H43 hopper has been done by Bowser and remains in stock.
