Subject: Down to one remaining semaphore
"mp251_032101.jpg" - image/jpeg, 40088 bytes, 495x339 (39kb)

While we were all sleeping... many of the remaining Erie upper-quadrant
semaphores, located east of Waverly, have been dropped.

The first of the remaining 6 semaphores (mp 245-2) was removed last August.
Then around mid-November, the blade at mp 247-2 was removed. Follow that with
another removal about 8 weeks ago, mid Jan., of blade 249-2.

Yesterday and today, the staggered doubles at Ellistown (251-1 and 251-2)
were removed.

The only remaining semaphore is the one in Endicott.

I guess with typical NY winter returning after a couple of mild ones,
the blades have not held up well.

Attached are some pics of the removals at Ellistown, courtesy of Tom Hannon,
resident of Sayre. You can see the blades laying down on the ground.
