This past weekend, Jay Held, Bryan Palmer and I went on a
tour of the Scranton area looking at certain points on the
rights of way of both the Erie and DL&W. While following
the former Erie Scranton Branch which ran into the center
of the city of Scranton, we came across the following
remnants. The first photo shows some rail from the branch's
main track still remaining in Larch Street next to the
Scranton Electric Company. The view is looking towards
Dunmore, and the connection to the Wyoming Division at
Haines Jct. In the backgroud, you can trace out the path of
the trackup the hill.
The second photo shows a shed just a few feet to the side
of the location of the previous shot. It sure looks like an
Erie section house. Whether it was located there during the
time or was move there later is unknown.
