List,

Jerry Jordak sent me photos of two EL hoppers moving through Cleveland this past weekend. I know these have been discussed here at length, but it is still nice to see some EL riding the rails.

He also posted the following link on the Cleveland Rails list for a photo from his rrpicturearchives.com. It shows the Cleveland Commercial Railroad operating on the former EL 1st sub of the Mahoning Division/Conrail and NS Randall Secondary. He told me to post his message about the CCR photo along with the link. According to his message, it looks as if the ex-EL Von Willer yard may be out of service or at the very least see sporadic use. His message and link to the photo:

They did run on Friday, though, as I caught them at the end of their day
at Aetna Road:

The engine was originally waiting at Erie Crossing for a couple NS
trains, and then it went east to Aetna Road, following a weed spraying
truck. The weed sprayer went east on the Randall while the switcher went
down the Ferrous Processing lead, across the street, and disappeared
through the gate. I went down the W&LE crossing at East 91 St. and saw
the tracks were plugged with gons, and the switcher never showed up
after about 10 minutes. This was after 5:00, so my suspicion is that
they're keeping their motive power inside the grounds of Ferrous
Processing, which is probably the safest place for it (good luck
breaking into a scrap yard).

I went by Von Willer Yard earlier that evening and it was completely
empty. My guess is that CCRL probably won't use the yard for much, since
the interchange is being done west of Erie Crossing on the Yardmaster's
Track.
