As I paged thruogh this very detailed file,I realized that it was a series of letters about it from beginning (planning) to end....costs, power (a DL&W 1131 type 4-6-2) menu, and a fascinating series of letters from the L&NE, L&H, & New Haven railroads which this trip covered. All had the old Company letterheads -long gone- and signed b the many fficials, also long gone. Some of them I recognized like Mr. W. G. Dorsey whose name or initials I had seen on many bulletins, orders, etc. while working on the ELRR (WGD).
There were some interesting tidbits like the agent at Rockaway to be 'provided with a ladder to take down one of the station signs - to be presented to Mr. Tom Taber during the station stop. Mr. Taber returned the favor many times over with his 3-volume History of the DL&W.
I hope u all enjoy these little tidbits.
Regards to all,
Walter E. Smith
