Paul and List,

I'm presently editing a book about to be published in the next 60-90 days by
the Lower Lakes Marine Historical Society entitled: "Land and Waterview
Guide to Buffalo Harbor". This is a soft-cover, 225 page volume covering the
Inner and Outer Harbors plus the Niagara River/ Erie Canal and all its
shoreline industries. It basically covers the 1870's to present day, showing
photos from the 1800's, intermediate development (1900-1930) and present
day. As about 80% of Buffalo's 19 miles of shoreline was owned by the
railroads, it has a healthy coverage of railroad docks, trestles, grain
mills and freighthouses.

Attached is a photo from the book. In the lower right is the Erie
Freighthouse. Behind it is the old Erie drydock, and above that the old Erie
docks for the Erie's Union Steamship Line. Down the center is the Buffalo
Creek tracks. I wrote an article in the Diamond about the Erie drydock in
Volume 20, No. 2 and an article on the DL&W Trestle in Volume 19, Numbers 3
& 4.

As soon as the book is available for sale, I'll have details for the List.
