Rick, Steve & List:

The August 1951 Erie employee magazine had a schedule for the Erie
Veterans outing to Conneaut Lake Park on page 17.

The Jersey City train had a scheduled departure of 5:30 pm Aug. 17th and scheduled arrival of 6:35 am the 18th with a Buffalo section leaving at 1:05 am and connecting at Jamestown. A second train left Port Jervis at 8:05 pm the 17th with a scheduled arrival at 7:15 the next morning with a Lackawaxen connection for service from Dunmore. A third train left Huntington at 9:50 pm on the 17th with a scheduled arrival of 8:50 am the 18th and with a connection at Youngstown for a train scheduled to leave Clevelandat 5:05 am the 18th. Riders from Chicago could take No.2 westbound to arrive at Huntington ahead of the picnic train.

Reverse service commenced the evening of the 18th.

Hope this info is helpful.

Speaking of special trains, where did Erie company picnic trains originate
from? I know the destination was Conneaut Lake Park, Pa. BTW, Conneaut Lake
Park did not open this year.

They were not really Company Picnic trains but trains run for the Erie
Veteran's Association. As Cal mentioned to me, he was not a member of the Vets.
You had to have so many years service to be considered an Erie Veteran
member. Not certain if it was 10, 25 or what.

I'm gathering quite a collection of Erie Magazines (I have all the EL) and
in at least one of those magazines there was a schedule of trains for one of
the summer Conneaut Lake Veteran's Picnic. I have not located that issue yet.
Trains operated from Buffalo to Hornell and combined with trains from
Scranton off of the old Wyoming Division. There were also trains from Jersey
City, Chicago and other locations. I believe it was actually five or six trains
one year to the park for the event.
