OK, here is the skinny on the push pole.

It is 9' 1" long, 6" diameter, The ferrules are 4 1/2 dia. 3" wide.
It weighs 55 lbs on my scale.
The stress cracks have formed over the last 30+ years since I obtained it.
It is warped and was when I got it. You can see the grain is pretty much
centered on the turned axis of the pole. Both ends are the same, one does
not have the saw step.I always felt it was ash. It is leaning against the list content.

I have seen many poling pocks on cars that were angled to line up with
a push from parallel tracks. They may all have been angled.
