I thought the poling thread had come to an end, as we've had an excellent
discussion on the subject. But, last night as I was researching another
topic, I came across this two-page article on the hazards of poling in the
May 1957 issue of Erie Magazine.

The author telling the story is allegedly a high ranking Erie official who
wishes to remain anonymous. He tells a tall tale about that infamous, inept
Erie employee named Spooky and the day he poled a boxcar. I'm not sure if
this tale is based in fact, but it certainly is entertaining. See what you
think.
