"417030_Croxton_NJ-2-29-76-John_C_LaRue.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1407x952 (256c)
Was going through my photo collection, and this one caught my eye. It's a
John LaRue shot of MOW service boxcar 417030.
What caught my eye is that the car is stenciled "FOR SAND LOADING ONLY" and
in smaller lettering, "SECAUCUS ROUND HOUSE"
Up until now I've only noticed the EL black covered hoppers - with the
special pneumatic gates - at Croxton for sand service. So, how was the sand
in this boxcar hauled? And were they able to pneumatically deliver the sand
to the towers overhead?
