Subject: EL in Scranton, 1975

I apologize in advance for the poor quality photos, but I was a 16 years old
on July 15, 1975 with not much money and only a Kodak Instamatic. These are
some of the shots I took along the EL from Cayuga Junction to Clarks Summit,
where I used to frequent Ed Barrow's hobby shop.
1. Clarks Summit siding - which went up to the freight and passenger
stations on the original mainline. Quite a climb for any engine. Main
customer was an Agway.
2. Clarks Summit tower - used to have a circular stairway in it, but by this
time, it was removed.
3. Clover St. Crossing - in Leggett's Gap, only a pedestrian crossing at
this point in time. I saw the 759 whip around this curve in the early 70s.
This curve saw a pretty bad wreck in 1973 or 4. Cars were derailed for the
complete length of the curve. Hence we see the EL replacing jointed track on
curves with CWR!
4. F-units holding for a train to come off the Bloom. This is directly
across the North Scranton Expressway behind my parent's house.

6. SD45 3602 leading a train, again stopped at the cantilevered signal
bridge behind my parent's house. It's still there, sans signals. This train
is on a section of track that was re-aligned in 1963 or 4 to allow the North
Scranton Expressway to squeeze between the houses on Bennett St and the
