David you say the photo is 1954. I'm not into old autos but looking at the front fenders of the car at the station I would say later 50's. Could this shot be early EL days since I see a modernized heavyweight coach and the Tavern-Lounge being replace by a Erie Diner Lounge. Just my opinions.

Tks Don for the special notice inputs, it came to me labeled 1954, but if it’s the Phoebe, it’s kind of short, which says it could either be early EL-less passenger coaches, or maybe not even the Phoebe but another train with an RPO. I think that the only RPO’s were on 3 & 6 and 10 & 15, unless there was a Scranton or Binghamton RPO to Hoboken. #6 would have been scheduled at Pocono summit 4 o'clockish due in Hoboken before 6 PM

Abram Burnett did a significant photo shop up-lift on this photo, and thanks go out to him. I love this scene, especially with his enhancements, you can see more details: The conductor looking at the progress of the mail loading; the yellow probably PULLMAN step stool next to him; the trainman’s trap opened further back; the line of concrete poles; the store clerk/postmaster (?) complete with his apron and the locals watching the action. In addition there is one unique thing that remains the same today: the crossing signals! They are the original clang-clang out of sequence bells that was typical on the Lackawanna; the B&H’s Wayland line had 3-4 left down by Savona Campbell and Wallace, but I think that they’ve all been upgraded. I have ‘protected these from being up graded and replaced. The cross bucks have been changed from cast iron to aluminum State mandatory because I believe that a number of them had become fly projectiles in motor vehicle collisions.

Another question has come up is this actually #6 the Phoebe Snow? It’s a pretty short train and I don’t see any sign of Budd fluting (diner) further

Back>>>Tim, Bob B., Mike Delv. Any guess what train it might DMV

I took Mr. Monte Verde's image of No 6 at Pocono Summit into Photoshop and jumped through some hoops with it. Besides exposure/brightness, there were color problems with the image. I fixed as many as I could by using first the Camera RAW Editor (handling the image as if it had been recorded in NEF or RAW format.) This fixed the brightness and color balance problems, The I took it into Full Photoshop and adjusted the reds, yellows, cyans, blues and magentas in selected areas, and pulled the green out of the roof. Plus a few other things. I could not, of course, fix the graininess of the image. Editing time? About 25 minutes.

Please forward the image back to Mr. Monte Verde. Hopefully he will be pleased with it.
