"He Makes Things Lively About the Grand Central Station/PASSENGERS FLEE =
IN ALL DIRECTIONS"

From the New York Times, November 1, 1895, a report on a runaway steer =
running down the platform at the Grand Central Station Annex!!

See the article in this .jpg..

A couple of years ago a calf got loose in Queens. It didn't try to get =
up on the El or go into the subway, but it did run up and down streets =
in Jackson Heights or Astoria I think (Bowery Bay back in 1895). This =
being more enlightened (or sappy) times, this more current loose bovine =
in the city was not sent back to the slaughter house, but rather to a =
petting farm upstate!
