Re: (erielack) E S'burg Tower

I've been following this discussion a little and happen to have an October
2003 copy of Railpace in front of me. There is a March 23, 1973 picture by
Tom Nemeth of the tower on the front cover (light green with dark green
trim and a little red on the lower windows and corners of the upper
windows.

The article on page 29, shows the tower on Feb. 7, 1976 (also by Tom
Nemeth) showing the upper right side with a new coat of red paint, while
the remainder of the tower appears the same as in the photo on the cover.

I do not know if these pictures have been discussed, but thought I'd
mention them.

Well, the colors in the photo in Larry DeYoung's EL In Color Vol 3 are
definitely green and red/maroon, and the caption dates the photo as Jan 21,
1976. Bob Wise is credited as photographer. The other photo, also green
and
red/maroon, is dated Sept. 9, 1975. Also a Bob Wise photo.

Perhaps Bob is thinking of the E Stroudsburg station? In an undated photo
in
Vol 3 (page 44), and another photo on page 56 of Rich Pennisi's A Colorful
Look at the Erie Lackawanna, dated 1975, the station appears to be red (the
station is in the distance in both photos). I also have a separate photo
dated 8-19-74 in which the station is red.
