Re: Re:Re: (erielack) ELHTS

Randy,
I think what folks like about the O&W is the poor old RR, not so much the
O&W HS although I had a bunch of their bulletins & they were very
interesting. I used to work with a couple of O&W enginemen who'd migrated to
the ERIE or DL&W when the O&W folded & they were great guys. It must have
been HELL working there, though with the bad track, engines, etc.
Regards,
Walt Smith

They're my best kind.

Do you plan a publication? Who will edit? Who will contribute? What else
do you have planned? Will you buy railroad equipment or property? Will you
establish archives? Do you have members? Who are they?

Perhaps I could be happier, but I'm still waiting for someone to tell me
how. The right to vote won't do it, unless I know why I'm voting.

will do. Again, the right to vote is meaningless unless there is a program
for which to vote.

on those of us who do contribute. Checking the list shows that DeYoung's
last contribution was the back cover of vol.17, #1. The list includes all
the directors and officers except Werthwein and Field, who contribute
mightily in other ways. It includes few, if any, of the detractors. What,
specifically, do you want The Diamond to do, and what did Mike Schafer say
when you told him?

we stirred up all the trouble with elections and By-Laws this past summer?

tell you? Honestly. That he could care less until he is forced to do so.
Sorry, but I've seen it happen way too many times for it to be brushed off
as forgetfulness. It isn't only Schuyler either. It is sadly the attitude
which pervades the Board.

> Frankly, as we all knew, the majority of ELHS subscribers are happy being
just that. They are happy to have their Diamond which as far as I am
concerned is turning into a rail fan rag instead of a historical
publication under the guidance of a rather ill informed editor who the
Board has happily abdicated the responsibility to. Whatever you do, do pick
up a copy of the Milwaukee Road or Rock Island publication AJP puts out,
you probably will believe you are reading the Diamond. No, handing over
editorial control of the Diamond was a foolish move, they gave away the
store when they did that. Do they care? I doubt it, they have long looked
at it as a troublesome burden to have to deal with.
>
> Oh, and look at our Board...yes you have to give Schuyler credit, one two
part article in 12 years. What about Larry? He'll sell his articles to
Trains, but when is the last time he contributed to the Diamond? You did
the index, you know the answer to that one.

don't ask questions. If you aren't ask and you will receive answers within
my ability to provide them. I actually hope the latter is the case.
