Checking both, the only cars in the 800 series are in the passenger equipment listings, combines, "under 60' long" and with a seating capy "under 70." In 1901, the NYS&W had milk cars, series 800-830, but they had (at least in 1901) NYS&W reporting marks, not ERIE. Possibly, by 1906, they had been relettered to ERIE? There are a lot of notes in the 1901 book covering the in-process renumbering and relettering of equipment, but it doesn't speak to that for these cars. Maybe somebody will know about J S Udall. Does that say "Cmdr?" As in "Commander J S Udall?" Commander of what, I wonder. SGL At first I was thinking the Erie car was a freight car of some sort, but it makes sense it would be a passenger/baggage car of some sort. Would a Mr."Cmdr" Udall be the owner of a Dairy Farm? Possible Milk transport?? just a thought. Why else would you waybill such a car? The 500 series trains must be passenger trains I am guessing. Okay, to get the Lackawanna fans intrested here's an Erie Railroad "Freight Train List" dated January 31, 1908. As you can see there's a DL&W Cement car in the consist! :) Erie Engine 98 hauled this seven car train westbound on the Caldwell Branch, most of it Coal! The train Cunductor "Mr. Post" noted they operated from BS to GA as an "Extra". GA refers to Great Notch, where was "BS"... Jersey City? Other list's I have show mostly Coal deliveries. But a few include "Brick" shipments to the Overbrook Hospital in Verona. Todd (ELHS 1318) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
