A slight correction to the information.

8499 was an E-L series of only one car obtained from Rail-Trailer
Company (sometime between 7-61 and 4-62) where it was marked
(E.F.R.X.1). It was retired from the EL account (3-64). Don't know
what happened to it.

8500-8524 (25 cars) were leased before the merger (for 15 years) from
Rail-Trailer. These went back to them (7-75). A foot note to these
25; they arrived with some kind of unspecified (yet substantial) defect
that had to be corrected while on the Erie. See the details in the
contract letter.

8525-8624 (100 cars) were the Bethlehem order later sold to Trailer
Train (8-64). As Paul pointed out, photos exist of some of these.

Numbers from 8625 to 8699 are unused by E-L.

8700-8799 (100 cars) were the General American order and I think they
went to TT in '64 also. I've never seen a photo from this series.

Yep, you did. I swapped the orders around (the mind is going as I get older :) . But there was never a resolution about the initial order of Erie cars - why would EL have kept them, while the rest of the fleet went into TT? And has anyone ever seen a photo of Erie/EL 8499-8524? Photos of the 8525-8624 series cars are available, but not this earlier series, which is baffling, especially considering how long they were supposedly on the EL roster.
