"EL_63_Y_Mt_View_Y_Switch.jpg" - image/jpeg, 664x591 (24bit)

I have three pictures illustrating the construction of the turnout from the
Boonton Line to the Greenwood Lake Division. I believe the junction was
known as "GA". The first photo shows how EL moved the track to make way
for the center platform. Rails were moved just 4' 8 1/2" as demonstrated.
I kind of thought it looked like a Lionel setup. You can see the Erie
station at Mountain View. It sat on a grade and that had to go to make
more room for parking. The first station put in place was about a 6 foot
square shanty for the agent until the aluminum building could be
constructed. This picture was taken in the spring of 1963

The second picture is the "Y" switch in place taken during the summer of
1963. New communication and signal poles have been erected.

The third picture is the Route 202/Boonton Road crossing showing the track
realignment with the original rails still embedded in the roadway. In this
picture you can see the turnout that was never used and the signal mast
controlling movement across the Boonton Line.

This work was not done by a contractor. EL used their equipment to
construct everything. I imagine that the drawings for this work are filed
away somewhere. Perhaps NJT or NS might have them.
