Subject: DL&W Realignments near Moscow
"Moscow_acmemapper.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1387x1637 (24bit)

Here's an old track realignment just east of Moscow, Pa. Take a look at
the map v21 n50 first. Since it's dated 1918, this curve reduction must
have been part of Truesdale's big improvements of the 1910s. It shows
up quite nicely on a 1939 aerial photo from Penn Pilot, but alas for the
hiking and exploring crowd, not much is visible today (from
acme/mapper).

There is also a much larger realignment a little further east between
Daleville (Hollister Reservoir) and Lehigh much of which survives today
as the Lehigh Road. I've been on that and it's clearly an old railroad
grade. Included is one section of the 1918 value maps (the entire
thing covers 5 different maps, too much to post) and corresponding
current map with the old grade highlighted.

enjoy,
