Hello,

I would like to have these pictures posted on the Erie Lackawanna
Mailing List,

Thanks!

Richard P.

These are some pictures I took last spring and summer along the old Erie
Main Line that has been abandoned through Orange County, NY.

(a),(b) 7/29/01 Old Harriman, NY Station (notice the tree growing out of
the chimney!) (c) 100 feet east of the old Harriman Station, this is
where the old Erie Main Line ends, Nepera Chemical Company is on the
other side of the fence, the bridge in the foreground crosses over NY17
N/S (d) 100 feet west of the old Harriman Station (from what I
understand) a monument was built to commemorate the first ever train
order given by telegraph from Harriman, NY to Goshen, NY. About 5 - 10
years ago vandals stole the bronze plaque and it has never been found.
(e) 7/29/01 Site of the old Monroe, NY 1913 station, it burned down in
1977. As you can see from the sign on the corner of the lot, the site
is for sale (and has been for several years now!) (f),(g) 4/20/01
Greycourt, NY looking west bound...a small 2 track siding is all that is
left in this area. The siding links up with the old Lehigh and Hudson
River RR line under the bridge, now used by Norfolk Southern and the
NYS&W. The Orange County Heritage Trail is on the right. (h),(i)
4/20/01Chester, NY Station...restored and now a museum run by the local
historical society...(j) 7/29/01 Goshen, NY Station...restored and how
home to the village police department (k) 7/29/01 Old Downtown
Middletown Station...restored and now the city library.
