Subject: Correcting your Atlas U-boats, part 2
"el-right.jpg" - image/jpeg, 787x1273 (24bit)

Hi folks,

I finally sat down and noted what needs to be changed (if you're so
inclined) to make the Atlas U-boats correct for each class of EL
six-axle U-boat.

Attached are two files - "el-left" and "el-right" showing the
differences between the four major groups (early U33C, late U33C, U36C
and U34CH) on each side of the unit.

One thing I forgot to mention earlier is that you need to remove/fill
the nut-bolt-washed heads on the face of the nose - the EL units didn't
have the vertical handrails on the nose. As for the speed recorders,
Detail Associates makes a wonderful part (DA 2808 - Speed Recorder, GE
Type) that fits the bill and is easily added. The sideframes - well, you
know about this now I suppose! :) Make sure you get LEFT and RIGHT
sideframes - 2 of each - since they do account for the discussed 4"
offset in the center axle spacing.

I did leave most small details off (Sinclair antennas, etc.) since I
thought those were obvious, and some (like the horns) varied.

A lot to digest in these two images! If anyone needs clarification,
please let me know...

- Paul
