Subject: EL SPD-45 Fuel Tank Question

Hi,



I have studied numerous photos of EL SPD-45's in order to weather my two
Athearn SPD-45 models. What I have noticed is that the fuel tanks on those
units seem to have fuel or oil spills all along the length of the tank
rather than just the areas around the fuel fillers at the ends of the tank.
Is there some other explanation for the fresh oil spills other than sloppy
fuel filling such as engine oil leaks? I have not seen that pattern of oil
spills on other EL SD's.



I included a photo of how I weathered one of my units as an example of the
spills I have seen on prototype photos to illustrate the question.
