The Boonton Train on the wye I would say must be Train X105 turning on the wye in order to return east as morning train 1026. A 1956 ETT I just consulted has it as I remember from watching in 1960. Train X105 was of course a deadhead and in 1956 traveled the Boonton Line. When I saw X105 in 1960, it was traveling the Morristown Line, probably because of the single tracking of parts of the Boonton Line. The 1956 ETT has X105 arriving Denville at 8:42 AM (EDT) and 1026 departing east at 8:57 AM.

Attached is a shot of X105 in winter of 1960 passing under the Danforth Road bridge in Madison, also a shot of 1026 about to depart Denville on March 8, 1960. I rode 1026 on that March day in 1960. It was the last eastbound of the day down the Boonton Line.

Today's selections from the Steve Hepler collection are:

DL&W 967 - seen on the north end of the Denville, NJ wye, just before Young's Coal. I'm guessing this train was turning on the wye?
Photo by William S. Young (yes, of Young's coal!)

ERIE 5010 - with a Stillwell in tow slowing down to cross Bensen Street, arriving at the Glen Ridge, NJ station on the NY&GL. Why
did they have a crossing guard when there were flashing lights here?
