Subject: Steam loco used in the NJ cut off construction "found"
"carter31_3_319.jpg" - image/jpeg, 640x480 (24bit)

Does anyone on the list know anything about this narrow gauge steamer that
was recently found on a farm in the Roseville section of Byram? Apparently
it was used in the cut off construction and then left sitting on this farm
property for the last 100 years. It was brought to some place in Sparta for
storage a few weeks ago.

I don't know exactly where it was sitting but I find it hard to believe it
was recently "found" Someone had to know it was there all these years. I
believe it was on the farm across Roseville Road from the future site of the
new Andover station.

I have explored all along the cut off over the last 20 years and have walked
many of the narrow gauge right of ways leading off of it in search of
anything interesting and can't believe I never knew of this locomotive. It
would have been awesome to find this out in the woods. I did find a small
broken train wheel by a construction camp site in Stanhope a few years ago
that now hangs in my work shed.

Here's a link to the story and some pics. Scroll down to see the story:

And I'll attach another one and a pic of the wheel piece I found.
