Dear Group,

Here is the third of three photographs that I am posting to the

direct subsequent mailgroup posts and inquiries about the photos to him.

CAPTION by Randy Brown:

Erie E8 #832 alone on an eastbound in Clifton (caption sticker on back
of photo says Lakeview). Light makes it hard to tell which train it
was, and consist doesn't help much, either. Could be #2 or #6 in
summer, but most likely #6, because #2 ran too late most of the year for
the light to be that good.

The E8 alone is very odd; Erie virtually always ran through trains with
two units: E8's, PA's, or one of each (rarely). Single PA's were common
on secondary trains, but E8's almost never appeared alone until their
commuter days at Waldwick (which, by the way, had a wye, not a
turntable).

Until this picture, I would have said that E8's never ran alone on
primary trains, so partner 831 (or 833?) must have been dropped in Port
Jervis with a tummyache or something. Pretty much downhill coming east,
but I'll bet a PA led
on the way west the next trip, at least as far as Port Jervis!
