Attached is an article from the May 20, 1923 Tonawanda Evening News about mystery "shots" heard, which turned out to be torpedos used to signal an Erie passenger train to stop for passengers. I never heard of this before - was it a common practice?

For Henry, I'm not sure where "Buffalo Steel" was located. Was there a depot near by? Or were they making a special stop at the plant?
