I had to go to Boonton today to do some consulting (I was laid off on
Thursday and am trying to fill the void with some meaningful work - if
anyone wants to pass along my resume for any technical positions in Northern
New Jersey), contact me off-list at paultup@comcast.net)...

While driving along Route 80, I passed over the DL&W east of Lake Hopatcong
and noted some power lines overhead at this location - these were tall
wooden towers (not steel high-tension towers), but in the original photo, no
towers can be seen anyway. So... possibly this IS west of the current-day
Mount Arlington station? Either way, I'll be seeing Steve Hepler next week
and will get an answer then. The slide mount specifically states this is
"CS-9"

Also, when I got to Boonton, I lucked out and caught this image in front of
the Boonton freight house. I'm looking east along the Boonton Line - the
freight house (platform is now enclosed) can be seen to the right of the
Morristown & Erie Alco. To the left is the restored NYC "Hickory Creek"
sitting roughly where the tank car in the other image was sitting back in
1969. To the right is a former PSE&G switcher (GE something-or-other - I'm
sure Steve Timko could fill in this part :) from their Ridgefield Park
generating station, now part of the URHS collection. Both locomotives were
running, but I didn't stick around to see what was happening as I had to get
to my client.
