Bob, attached is that old map, from the Dunmore water company. Since it dates from the building of the EWV Jessup Branch Roaring Brook trestle (in 1895), it could be that they had a wye during construction. As far as there not being sufficient room for a larger curve, well there's plenty, so I don't think that's what happened. Also since it's a water company map, one can question its accuracy. You are correct, company and other maps from 1912 forward do not show a wye.

Frank

Jim
A long time ago, I remember seeing a VERY old map that showed a wye at Rock
Jct, For years I ask others if there was ever a wye there. Answer
was always no, which went along with all the newer maps that I had seen over the years. I still feel that at one time there was a wye, but it was taken out very early. ( turn of the century?) Your explanation of larger engines and the sharp curve is very plausible for its dissapearance.

Since I'm not sure how your third and fourth photo's line up with Rock
Jct I can't comment, but I'm not familiar with any loop track or switch back on the Jessup Branch. Can you elaborate some more on this?

Bob Bahrs
