Subject: DL&W Mountain View station (Today)
"DL_W_Mountian_View_010.jpg" - image/pjpeg, 979x734 (24bit)

I had a chance today to wander around the former Mountain View station site that was located on the Lackawanna Railroad Boonton Line. I warn you, these images are sad and show the deterioration of the station and it's surroundings. Mr.Stratton and Mr.Jordan my apologies if I just ruined your day as you look at these. :(

Photo 1 : is looking west on Track 2 toward the Parish Drive overpass, note the station platform was widened and paved over Track 1, the overpass has bright concrete "Patches" and has actually been repaired matching the contours of the DL&W design.

Photo 2 : Old walkway down to the Station.

Photo 3 : A view of the Station.

Photo 4 : Eastbound view from the Station.

Photo 5 : Steps leading into Station.

Photo 6 : Inside Station, looking into Freight / Baggage section?

Photo 7 : Leaving Station.

Photo 8 : Closeup of a section of DL&W iron fence laying in front of Station.

Photo 9 : General view of former platform.

Photo 10 : Former rails and concrete on the platform.

Photo 11 : DL&W telegraph pole.

Photo 12 : Found a spur just east of the station, did it lead to Wayne Warehousing?

Photo 13 : View of Track 2 shows condition of the ties and ballast.

Photo 14 : Closeup of tie plate for 131 lb rail from 1935 (Others go right up to the 40's).

Photo 15 : Closeup of a rail joint and fish plate.Hey, it's still polished!

Photo 16 : One last general view.

The Norfolk Southern HO-2 still visits now and then, I heard rumors this trackage was being sold off by NS, maybe M&E will step in? Sure wish I was photographing Pacific's and Trainmasters here today.

Todd ~
