This week, I installed a new 50GB AIT tape drive in my home computer replacing a
smaller/cheaper tape drive, and in the process of emptying/transferring all the
old files off the now-useless old tapes, I came across these Erie photos which
were sent to me by someone unknown. Now that we have picture capabilites on this
list, I'll send them on. Most of the pictures appear to have been taken on the
western end of the system, from persons aboard Erie trains. A few of them are
truly intriguing.

One shows a shovel-nose railcar alongside a set of F-units. Does anyone know
the purpose of the railcar? Does it belong to the Erie?

One pic shows one of the single-track interlockings in Indiana, and some of the
signal heads are covered with burlap or have heads turned. Its as if the Erie
installed a certain set of signals when they did the initial single tracking,
and later replaced them shortly afterwards with others that were more functional
or cheaper to maintain. Does anybody have a recollection as to whether dwarf
signals were used in later days out on the Indiana single track?

One other pic shows the 2 mains on seperate alignments.

Also, another pic shows installation of one of the switches in Indiana during the
single tracking project. You can see how the soon-to-be-removed main was pushed out
slightly to allow the other main to be shifted to allow for installation of the
equilateral switch.
