Subject: Lackawanna Postcards and a mystery card
"Cutoff_1909.jpg" - image/jpeg, 551x339 (24bit)

I went antiquing today and found a number ofreal-photo postcards of interest. Two are of DLW interest and a third is a mystery card. I'd like to learn more about them.

Cutoff 1909 shows a work crew at a railroad construction site. Our interest is the message on the other side: "A reminder of our trip to the "Cutoff" JHG". Postmark is Lake Hopatcong, Aug 17 1909. This is probably the easiest card to understand!

DLW Wreck shows several cars overturned and one off the track but upright; I can make out "LACKAWANNA" on the letterboard and car number 1299. Unfortunately, this card was not used so I have no idea as to when or where this happened. Can anyone help me?

The mystery card is full of activity. It shows a tender numbered 113 in 'billboard' style lettering, a semaphore mast numbered 1671, and the tall stack of a ferryboat in the right distance.

The postmark is Paterson, NJ, Oct 16, 1915, 7:30 pm, with other markings from Scranton, and Carbondale, PA - it could have gone by either Erie or Lackawanna. My first guess is on the Hudson River, a major station with a cross-river ferry or Day Line boat. Anyone care to try to identify the location?
