Some people have guessed that they were wyeing the eqpt, but the steam
appears to be hooked up-in June, granted it is in reverse order of how it
would operate: "I would say the two RS's were wyeing the train since they
units were coupled to the obs end of the Office Car."

Other input "..it's on EL since Dereco only included those two outfits. GW
Maxwell was CEO of both EL and D&H in '71, having succeeded JP Fishwick the
previous year when the latter went back to N&W in the "palace coup" that
removed Pevler as N&W CEO. If 927 and 913 were the loco #s, they had to be
EL as D&H had no 900s during my time there(1970-77), while "Spirit of
Youngstown" as I recall was a sleeper that EL saved after their psgr train
offs and used it on their inspection trains to handle overflow riders. As
you know better than me, the 300 was Wm White's car from NYC that he brought
to EL when he went there, and it stayed at EL as the ceo's car until Conrail
took over in '76 and you know the history after that when Walter R. brought
it to Cooperstown. The other cars are a bit more of a mystery. The one on
the head end in D&H colors could have been the D&H 200 that had theater
seating facing the observation platform end and was intended to be placed on
the rear for track inspection purposes. As for "2", it must have been
another EL office car. Looks like this consist is lined up in reverse order
from its normal inspection mode, maybe being re-positioned before the next
leg of their trip. All just guesswork. There are a lot of rosters out there
in Googleland, so maybe that could help ID the cars in this lashup."
