Paul,
You asked about UN Port Morris towers order board, there was nothing outside the tower itself. But here is a photo of what I believe was the Erie Lackawanna "Train Order Indicator" used at UN, it's an Adlake "E L" lantern that was wired with an incandesant bulb, and a yellow globe. The operator would hang it in the window of the tower, and I recall UN would notify the trains via radio if it had orders to pickup. I took a couple photos of the EL lantern sitting on the benchwork of my EL layout, enjoy!  :)

Hi folks,

Having been working until 3 AM (and getting up at 6 AM, three hours
later!) for the past few days, I've been day-dreaming about various
things EL to kill the time.

One thing that I've always wondered about is where the order
boards/order signals were for certain towers. I believe that Dover's was
on a signal directly in front of the tower that would illuminate
whenever a train had orders to pick up. But at the Denville tower, in
NJT days there was a pair of lights on a black board attached to the
side of the tower. Was this there in EL days? DL&W days? If not, what
did Denville use?

And most perlplexing to me, at least - where was Port Morris tower's
order indicator? There was nothing obvious on the tower itself - was
there a signal for it?

Thanks!
