First is a shot of the Akron cantilever signal bridge from August 6, 2005. As
far as I know the cantilever bridge is still there, but the signal is long
gone. The road was the EL tracks and the field in the distance was McCoy St
Yard. The inbound freight house still stands to the right out of the photo.

The second shot is the "business" side of the inbound freight house, shot on
the same day. Note the second floor bay window and how the garage door area on
the right side looks like it has been cut off. It connected to a center island
between the tracks and the outbound fright house on the other side of the
island. See the attached Sanborn map snippet for how the layout was back in
1940. Note in the Sanborn map that the two shared PRR and B&O tracks to the
right are erroneously labeled ERR. None of the Sanborns show B&O, only some
show PRR and on at least one, the Erie main is labeled PRR and the PRR/B&O
mains are labeled ERR. I have been under the impression that PRR owned one
main (Hudson to Orrville line) and B&O (Chicago main line) owned the other and
they shared them as double track through Akron. If that's not correct I'd be
interested in what thye actual arrangement was.

Erie's McCoy St Yard is off the bottom left of the map.
