List,

My wife and I had received a gift from our daughter, along with the gift was a note that read "For Mom and Dad (Mostly for Dad)". When we opened the gift it was a slide / negative scanner and the "Mostly for Dad" referred to all the Kodachrome boxes of slides I had taken years ago. She thought it would be a good idea to scan the slides making for better viewing on the on the flat screen. The scanner is of the "family" variety so the reproduction is not professional quality and the digital images lack the original Kodachrome clarity.

The scanner does give the ability to look into the past, in this case two images from thirty four years ago that I took on the Scranton Division. Being able to look at these images in detail brought back a lot of good memories. So take a ride with my friends Chet, Steve, and I. Thank my dad as I do for waking us all up and getting us into the car at 5:00AM that March 1976 day and driving us out to Scranton, as non of us had our drivers license.

Hope you enjoy the Scranton Division memories:

Scranton bridge sixty: The pair of SDP45s with caboose are crossing bridge sixty after coming up from Taylor yard. We would often park at bridge sixty and watch the activity upon arrival in the morning.

Moscow: My notes indicate this U33C was leading a SD45 on SF100. The consist was solid piggyback. We followed this train east, parking the car on the side of the road at Moscow we could not cross the road due to traffic and settled for this shot at Moscow. I do like the way the photo shows the town of Moscow and the train sweeping back in front of the station. Some of the traffic is seen on the left in what is now probably a classic car. We followed the train to Hainesburg viaduct and stood on the hill at the east end of the viaduct. I clearly recall hearing the power being notched out as the train accelerated out of the Delaware River valley.

Hope you enjoyed the memories
