Hi all,
A friend and I went out exploring old RR's and mines today. One of the
places we went was Chester NJ to see the turntable pit where the CNJ and
DLnW met. I have heard about this pit for years and have been to the bar
across the street (which was a RR hotel) many times, but never went to see
the pit until today.

Unfortunetly, the turntable is fenced in, filled with water and there is so
much brush around it I couldn't get a good picture, but I figgured I'd share
them anyway.

The TT is literaly feet away from an old factory and it's also a superfund
site so it's probably not a good idea to hang around here to long. I have
read that there was also a station building here until the 1990's. Sorry the
pics are so bad, These are the best I could get.

Chester_5 - 7 are the TT.

We also walked down the High Bridge Branch by Bartly near where the
Hookerman stories come from. The guy I was with told me about some freight
car wreckage left along the line and I wanted to check it out. This wreckage
is just past the end of track at the Toys R Us wearhouse. Does anyone know
if this is from one of the CNJ\EL pool trains?

High Bridge Branch 1 -8 are the wreckage.

You can follow our entire day of exploring here:
