"IMG_3475_resize.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1536x1152 (24bit)

Hi everyone,

I took my daughters to the New York Society of Model Engineers layout
display yesterday. The NYSME has a long-time DL&W-relevance, as they
were located in Hoboken Terminal for many years before moving to their
current location in Carlstadt, NJ. There's a heavy Erie/DL&W/EL
influence in their model trains, as well. I've attached some from our
visit yesterday.

It's been a while since I visited (last time I was their, the HO layout
was in the process of being completely rebuilt, and it's now in a state
of "almost complete"). Their O scale layout has been nicely "refreshed"
as well. And they had a beautiful "Phoebe Snow" trainset pulled by an
A-B-A set of F-units on the O scale side to boot!

Most intriguing is the club's collection of tailsigns - they have the
round "Phoebe Snow" drumhead (see photo) as well as a rectangular one -
I'm not sure if this is real or a repro? (it appears above my daughter's
heads in one of the photos)

Also intriguing - in the display area when you walk in, there's a
beautiful O scale model of DL&W Business Car #99, with a little brass
plate that states it was built for DL&W President William White in 1949.
That being said, who gave the car back to the club?

The club is having one last weekend of display days - this coming
weekend (March 28/29) - and is well worth a visit. Their website is
modelengineers.org, if you want more info.

- Paul
