Hi all,

Just got back from the East Coast Hobby Show, just outside of
Philadelphia, and here's a report of EL-related items they had on
display...

STEWART HOBBIES, alas, had no new EL/Erie/DL&W items to show, but Steve
Stewart DID say that the DL&W FTs will probably be shipping next week.
Due to a huge backlog, they've invested in another pad printer in an
effort to get more product out the door.

ATLAS showed the sample of their upcoming "Classic" GP7 in EL
black/yellow paint (see images). They also showed their revised RS1
model (for you NYS&W modelers!) that features separate grabs and pilot
detail.

ATHEARN had the best stuff to show. Not only were they showing their
revised line of Details West boxcars (with finer details and nice
paintjobs), but they also had a new Genesis-series boxcar on display,
correct for 1970s EL era!

Best thing on display: EL 7094 and 7092, an "F5" A and B set (Ph. IV
F3s, if you prefer that terminology). The pictures say it all:
Absolutely beautiful! Athearn's John Engstrom noted that the gray is a
tad dark, and the yellow is a bit too "bold," and both are going to be
corrected on the production models, which he says will be shipping
within the next 60 days. Very cool! As for the nose grabs, I asked about
that, and he said that they're simply ACC'ed in place, and if you want
to add the grabs up the nose, these are fairly easily popped out from
inside the shell. Whew! :)

If anyone has questions about other new items I saw, drop me a line (I
don't want to tie up the list with discussions about off-topic items!)

- Paul
