I recall some discussion a bit ago about the sight of Lackawanna baggage cars on other railroads. Here's one that surprised me -- classic hazy summer scene at the Jersey Shore with a Pennsy K4, fireman waving to the photographer, trailing baggage door open. Yes, DL&W baggage cars were in various intercity mail pools, but on a nearby New York & Long Branch commuter run? The mail went everywhere. This scene is dated July 15, 1955, south of South Amboy, NJ, where the wire ends. A GG1 would have forwarded this train to Gotham.
